After spending a year researching and visiting different retirement possibilities within 25 miles of Boston, in spring of this year we heard from a close friend about a new community being built in Lexington called Waterstone Lexington. Since the location met our needs, we made an appointment to hear more about it. We listened to their detailed presentation about the plans for Waterstone Lexington, reviewed the floor plans of the units that were still available and made the decision that morning to reserve a unit.
For us, this was an unusually quick decision! We typically spend hours agonizing over such decisions. What helped us make this decision so quickly? We were very impressed with the team’s warmth and professionalism. They understood how big a decision this was for us to leave a large home of 38 years and move to an apartment. Raymond did not pressure us to make a quick decision. However, he did astutely realize he was talking with a husband who had been a financial executive all his career. Raymond explained Waterstone was totally a rental situation. There was no required large initial payment for the unit. Residents only pay a monthly fee and, if for any reason needed to leave, could do so with only a 60 day notice. We were further impressed with the beauty of the new facility and the many amenities that appealed to us. We also liked having the assisted living facility on the same campus as the independent living. The fact that so many residents would be joining at the same time was also of great interest to us. A key reason for us considering a retirement community is to enjoy the camaraderie of the people and environment.
We have also enjoyed the get togethers they have orchestrated for us to meet with other new residents and potential residents. All gatherings have been done with class, delicious food and drink, and concentration on making new residents feel comfortable! These activities where we have met more “residents to be” have further helped us feel more and more comfortable with our decision. We now eagerly look forward to making Waterstone Lexington our new home!
